Mid-January Winter Storm and Cold Air

Jan 21, 2020

A powerful low-pressure system brought 3-6 inches of snow across Hennepin County Friday, January 17th, causing a treacherous afternoon commute. The low left strong winds in its wake, creating blowing snow issues with the fresh fluffy snow. The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning until 6:00 pm on the 18th due to reduced visibility across the state, with blizzard warnings issued in western and southern Minnesota. A Wind Chill Advisory was issued for Hennepin County, Saturday night into Sunday, due to the strong winds as well, with wind chills ranging from -20 to -25° F.
