Unseasonably Cold Start to November

Nov 18, 2019

November has started off chilly, with the first two weeks running 12 degrees below average. This cold peaked on Veteran’s Day with record cold high temperatures set in the Twin Cities. This frigid air came from the arctic circle and plunged temperatures across the region 15-20 degrees below average. The lack of snow cover prevented us from setting any record low temperatures, but temperatures still dropped into the single digits Tuesday morning. Winds of 10 to 15 mph caused wind chills at most stations to drop below zero. Thankfully, high temperatures have returned to near normal.
