2015 Hennepin West Mesonet Extremes: Review

Another year has come to an end. 2015 was the first year for a lot of stations, so a lot of station ‘records’ were broken. Here are a few of the highlights. June 9th, 2015 was the warmest day from the Hennepin West Mesonet Sensors with the highest reading coming in a 94oF at the Dayton, Excelsior, Loretto, and West Hennepin Public Safety stations. However, the official MSP temperature for June 9th, 2015 was 92oF. The second warmest day from the Hennepin West Mesonet sensors was August 14th, 2015 with the top reading coming in at 93oF at Columbus-Anoka and Lino Lake-Anoka stations. The official MSP temperature for August 14th, 2015 was 94oF. The coolest temperature day(s) tied with February 19th, 2015 and March 5th, 2015 with Hennepin West Mesonet sensors, Delano and Hanover, at -17oF, with an additional extremely cold day of February 19th, 2015 with many stations reporting negative teen digits.

July was the wettest month of 2015  with the official MSP precipitation at 7.32 inches for the month. The top reporting Hennepin West Mesonet sensors were: Goose Lake Substation (6.85 inches), Hanover Fire Department (6.81 inches), and Greenfield City Hall (6.76 inches). Top wind speeds from the Hennepin West Mesonet were 58 mph on July 18th, 2015 at the Long Lake Traffic Signal Station, and 54 mph on July 8th, 2015 and October 12, 2015 at Excelsior Fire Department and West Hennepin Public Safety Stations respectfully.
