First Day of Spring

Mar 20, 2018

Spring is typically a time with sunny skies, rain showers, and thunderstorms, but the beginning of this year’s spring is off to a snowy start. A large portion of Minnesota was greeted with light snow this morning, which has lingered into the afternoon. It is likely that this won’t be the last time we see snow this spring.

The colored bars on the chart below compare the average temperatures from March 1-19, 2017 to those of 2018. The gray bar indicates the difference between 2017 and 2018 average early-March temperatures. All average temperatures of the first 19 days in March 2018 were a couple degrees higher than those in 2017. Fridley was the only exception; its average temperature decreased a few degrees in 2018 from its previous 2017 average temperature.
