When did the Growing Season End?

Nov 21, 2016

The record breaking growing season for the Twin Cities ‘officially’ ended on November 18, 2016. This means that on November 18th, 2016 the minimum temperature dropped to 32 degrees. This is the latest in the season the Twin Cities have gone without seeing a 32 degrees or colder temperature. The previous record was November 7, 1900. This official reading is taken at the MSP Airport. However, let’s see how this stacks up to the rest of the Hennepin West Mesonet Stations. Every single one of the stations hit 32 degrees (or lower) before MSP Airport, with the exception of Fridley (AN01A). Check out the map below that shows the date that each station recorded at or below 32 degrees.
